JustRite Friday Challenge 024

This week's JustRite challenge was a sketch with the requirement of a red, white, and blue color scheme in honor of Independence Day. I LOVE the look of vintage cards and that's kinda what I went with. My flowers are from the Plant A Little Love set (aren't they gorgeous!), and they are colored with Bic Mark Its and the leaves and stems are colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I double stamped the flowers and popped the centers with foam dots for a little dimension. The image panel is sponged with Distress Ink and I added some straight and zig zag stitching. Thank you for popping in for a peek. :)

Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge, June Week 5

Whew, got all five challenges done this month. I used my newest Verve set again, Blue Skies. Love it, love the butterflies. The papers are DCWV and Bermuda Bay from Stampin Up. The butterfly is colored with Prismacolor pencils. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge, June Week 2

I actually had this card almost finished for 2 weeks now, but couldn't quite think of how to finish it off. Because of where I put my sentiment, I couldn't think of what to do with that rectangle in the sketch, lol. I put a bow there and it wasn't right. So this morning I thought of a flat bow. I think it works. There is one more sketch for June, five this month. So I am going to go work on that one, thanks for taking a minute to take a peek. Have a good day, sounds like we are about to have a thunder storm here. :)

Whew, my fifth and final card for Verve's release week challenges. Someone will win the whole new release, hopefully me! ;) Five will win $30 gift certificates. On this card I used the Happy Birthday Plain Jane, and this beautiful flower from my newest set, One Person. I colored it with Bic Markits and popped it up. The sneak peaks that the Verve Divas have been showing are fabulous, I can't wait for the release party tonight at 9. Thanks for stopping in, have a wonderful weekend!

Verve Release Challenge #3

Wow, my second post of the day. Yesterday Easter, today Christmas? You bet, lol. I felt like breaking out the Christmas stamps. This is my third card for Verve's release. All the details are here on Verve's forum at SCS. This card came together very quickly, I already knew which sketch I was going to use and which stamps, Christmas Tree from Verve. My sewing machine did not want to cooperate though, ugh, it kept, locking up on me. Finally got it working, and my thread is so light you can't hardly see it. Oh well. Off to clean up my mess, I'm like the Tasmanian devil when I break everything out to make a card, lol. I only have a tiny table to work on and no storage. So I pull out tons of boxes of everything. Hopefully when we move, I'll be able to have somewhere a little bigger to work at. Thanks for stopping by for a peek. Have a great day. :)

Verve Release Week Challenge #2

I finished up this card this morning. Number 2 of 5 for Verve's Release week challenges. Don't forget the release party is this Friday in the SCS forum at 9pm Eastern.

I used two stamps from Verve's Big Wish set, and pulled out the red, light blue, and pale yellow from the DP. The main image is popped up and colored with Prismacolor pencils.

I'm off to get started on another card, you don't have to do all 5, but whatever you can get done, the contest deadline is 6 pm Eastern. Thanks for stopping in. :)

Verve Release Week Challenges

If you haven't heard, Verve is having a release party this Friday at 9pm Eastern in the SCS forum. There are 5 challenges that you can enter, each challenge will have a winner who will receive a $30 gift certificate to the Verve store. Fantastic!

This card is my first for the challenges. Easter? Lol, I know. As I was going through my stamp sets, this one caught my eye. I think I only used it once this year, it was from a release a couple months ago. I thought why not, I love this set.

I am going to try to get more cards in, the deadline is 6pm Eastern on Friday, the 25th. I'm in the middle of packing right now as we are trying to move in a couple of weeks, so I don't have much time for myself. Thanks for stopping in, have a wonderful day. :)

Whimsy June Challenge

I am new to Whimsy Stamps. I have followed a few blog hops and now have a couple of stamps, they are so sweet! I decided to enter this card in this month's challenge which is summer with the added option of bugs. The stamp I am using is called Water Lily, isn't she sweet? I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and added some glitter to her wings, a fairy has to has some sparkle right? ;) I also used my Sakura glitter pen to the water coming out of her watering can, though it doesn't show up on camera. And for the bug part, I have a dragonfly charm hanging from the bow. Thank you so much for popping in for a visit, have a wonderful day. :)

JustRite Friday Challenge 022: Summer Recipe Swap

JustRite had another fun challenge this week, Summer Recipe Swap. We were to use our JustRite stamps to share our favorite Summertime or any time recipe. We could make a recipe card, a canned recipe/vegetable/fruit, with a JustRite label on it, etc. I actually woke up early this morning thinking about this challenge and knew exactly what I was going to make. One of my family's all time favorite recipes is warm Apple Crisp with Blue Bell French Vanilla ice cream (my favorite vanilla), and I knew that this super sweet apple basket from JustRite's Autumn Blessings set would be perfect! I wanted to make my recipe card a little special so I decided on an easel card, my first one. I had put off making an easel card because I thought they looked complicated, nope not at all. I then used the 15pt Times New Roman Font on the circle panel on the inside of the card. With the font you can create custom borders, how fun is that! I decided on "Season Everything With Love" and I stamped the apple basket again for the focal image and popped it with a thin dimensional.

I sponged the edges of everything with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and I also sponged the ribbon because it was way too bright as it was. My image panels were cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Large and Small Circles, Large Ovals, and Large Scalloped Ovals and colored with Prismacolor pencils, I added some stitching around the edges, that's it. How fun would it be to receive a recipe like this?

Here is the recipe for Apple Crisp, and be sure to check out the other projects and recipes.

Apple Crisp

5 cups peeled and sliced apples
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 to 4 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup regular rolled oats
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Filling:
In a large bowl stir sugar into fruit. Place fruit in a 8x8 baking dish.

Topping:
In a medium bowl combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts. Sprinkle topping over filling.

Bake in a 375 oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until fruit is tender and topping is golden. Serve warm with ice cream if desired. Serves 6.

Thank you so much for coming by for a peek, have a great day. :)

Mojo 142

Good morning! Well school is officially over and now I've got the kiddies all to myself. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

I made this card last night for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I used my newest set, One Person from Verve. I love, love, love this set! Julee blows me away with every new release, her designs are amazing. Check out the font on the sentiment, it's just beautiful! I colored the flowers with my Prisma pencils, still nowhere near a pro at these *sigh*. My thread was giving me a fit, it's apparently old and kept breaking on me :( Finally got it finished, and threw out that thread. Well, hope you have a fantastic weekend, thank you for stopping in. :)

Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge, June Week 1

This month at the Viva la Verve forum Amber is giving us kids rooms as our inspiration. This week I chose this picture for my inspiration.
Isn't that room sweet? I used Protector from Verve (pssst, its on sale now). The dp is actually one of the 2 stamps in the set stamped onto kraft, love it! I used one of my new embossing folders that I found at Big Lots for only $2. I added some stitching and sponging, this card was so fun. Thank you for stopping by, have a great day. :)

Happy Father's Day

I have never entered a card in more than one challenge, and this week I am actually entering two for the first time. The JustRite challenge this week was to use their stamps and make a manly card. Most of my JustRite stamps are flowers, though they have a gorgeous By the Sea set that would be perfect, which I don't have yet. So I used my New Times Roman Font set to spell out Happy Fathers Day.

I am also entering this card in the latest Creative Inspirations Challenge which was to use sewing or faux stitching. I used faux stitching for the first time! I usually machine stitch.

I used a die cut for the tags, wish I had a punch it would have been faster ;) I added some twine to the tags and some faux stitching around the card and my stars. The tags and stars are all on pop dots, and everything is sponged around the edges.

Thanks so much for stopping in, have a wonderful day. :)

Verve Ready, Set, Stamp: Up, Up, and Away

Ready, Set, Stamp is a new monthly challenge that Julee over at Verve just started last month. She challenges you to use a specific stamp set, this month is Up, Up, and Away. I love this set! The winner will receive a $30 gift certificate to the Verve store, how awesome is that?! You can enter your project here, you have until 6pm on June 14 to enter.

I made a sweet little 3 1/2 in. square card. The sun is from Verve's Let it Shine set. I colored the tree and sun with Prisma pencils, the balloon's basket is colored with BIC Mark its and the background is embossed to make it look a little windy ;) I used a lot of foam dimensionals to make everything pop, the frame, sun, balloon and the tree. I had so much fun with this card! Thanks for stopping by, have a great day. :)

JustRite Friday Challenge 020

Hello! This week at JustRite, the challenge is a sketch challenge, my favorite! I am usually at a loss thinking of how my layout will be. AND, this week's sponsor is Copic! This week's challenge winner will receive a set of 12 Copic Ciao markers! How exciting is that? I have never used Copics, what an incredible prize. I actually made two cards and have been trying to decide which to enter.

I think it will be this one. I made this for a sweet girl who just graduated from high school. I used Just a Note Borders & Centers 1 5/8". I stamped with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and heat embossed with clear powder, and I sponged Antique Linen around the edges. I am always amazed at how perfectly these stamps are cut with Nestabilities, so awesome. The butterflies are a MS punch and they are embossed too. The lattice is also MS, and I added some zigzag stitching.

This card also uses the Just a Note set. I also embossed the sentiment and border on it and sponged with Antique Linen. I used the same MS border punch but just added the brown DP and some stitching. I adore the look of brown and blue together. So I am really having a hard time deciding which to enter. But I'm thinking that I will go with the pink. You have until Thursday morning a 9 am Central to enter. Thanks for stopping in, have a wonderful day. :)
